ARTIST CALL OUT: schools and public hoarding project (Porthcawl)

This is an open call out for artists to lead a face-to-face workshop with local schools and/or youth groups.

The aim of the project is to create a vibrant visual arts display for the public-facing hoarding that surrounds the Aldi construction site, at Porthcawl Salt Lake car park.

The artwork will need to be designed and created in workshops and then displayed on the hoardings. It should be bold, eye-catching and help to welcome people to Porthcawl. We would welcome themes including the environment, diversity and local history, but are open to suggestions.

The approximate hoarding dimensions are: four panels, at 2.1m high x 4m wide. The boards will be provided and painted white with a six inch border.

Total budget is £2,500 (to include all artist’s time, workshops, materials, installation costs, travel, expenses and VAT).

Display to be erected during the school summer holidays.

Applicants must have demonstrable experience of working on arts and youth projects to create public displays and have a valid DBS and PLI.

Deadline for proposals: 22 June 2022.

If you are interested, please send your CV, covering letter and project proposal to: Nicola Edwards, Programme Manager, [email protected]. You can also contact Nicola with any questions by email, or on 07591 200120.
