The Local History Library at Maesteg Town Hall houses the principal local and family history collection for Bridgend County Borough.
Our resources cover the whole of the county, including Bridgend, Porthcawl, Pencoed, Pyle and the Ogmore, Garw and Llynfi Valleys. The Local History Library offers a wide selection of reference books, journals, records, and maps.
We also provide access to microfilm copies of historic newspapers, including the Glamorgan Gazette and Glamorgan Advertiser. In addition, the library holds the General Register Office indexes for Births, Marriages, and Deaths from 1837 to the present day.
While we are unable to carry out extensive research or full genealogical searches on behalf of readers, we are happy to respond to brief enquiries by post, telephone, or email.
