Maesteg Town Hall | Redevelopment

Maesteg Town Hall is closed for an ambitious and much-needed redevelopment. Costing over £8m, the project represents one of the single biggest investments ever made in the area and one of the largest arts capital projects currently underway in Wales.

The Grade II listed building is being restored back to its former glory by protecting the Hall’s period features and cultural heritage, whilst adding modern facilities that performers, participants and audiences need and expect. These include a new glass atrium, studio theatre and cinema space, a café and mezzanine bar, and a modern library. The venue’s accessibility will be greatly enhanced with the addition of a public lift and Changing Places toilet facilities for disabled visitors.

Prior to its closure, the Town Hall hosted a professional programme of drama, dance, comedy, music performances and children’s events, as well as being a popular venue for weddings, conferences and civic functions, and regularly used by a number of local theatre groups, choirs and operatic societies. In 2018, Maesteg Town Hall held over 110 events, with a total of over 27,000 visitors.

Please continue to follow our journey as we make this amazing redevelopment project a reality.
