Redevelopment

The Grand Pavilion is currently closed for a major redevelopment, following a successful bid submitted by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust, to the UK Government’s Levelling Up programme.

The £20m redevelopment will safeguard Porthcawl’s much-loved theatre for generations to come and help offer a much more inclusive and enjoyable experience for audiences and artists alike.

The grade II listed building has long been the cultural heart of the community, and this ambitious project will secure its position as a place where people of all ages can connect and engage with arts, culture and heritage.

While the building is shut, a programme of Pop Up Pavilion events will continue in the community and the Awel Y Mor Community Centre, including family theatre, live music, cinema and more.
