“The Secret Garden” (1993) is a film adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel, directed by Agnieszka Holland. The story centers on Mary Lennox, a spoiled and neglected young girl orphaned in India who is sent to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven, at his secluded Yorkshire estate, Misselthwaite Manor. The film explores themes of loss, healing, and the power of nature, as Mary discovers a hidden, neglected garden and, with the help of her cousin Colin and the groundskeeper’s brother Dickon, brings it back to life.
