Designed specifically for personal enjoyment and skill-building, you will discover the foundations of jewellery making in a friendly, supportive environment. Whether you want to create custom pieces for yourself, make thoughtful handmade gifts, or simply pick up a rewarding new creative hobby, you will gain the practical techniques needed to bring your own ideas to life.\r\n\r\nUpon the completion of this unit, students will be awarded Jewellery Making Level 1 from Agored Cymru\r\n\r\nOverview and modules\r\nThis course takes you through the full creative process, from basic concepts to finished items.\r\n\r\nKey topics include:\r\n\r\nWorkshop Safety: Working safely with tools, equipment, and materials.\r\nMaterials and Tools: Sourcing supplies and exploring the properties of base and precious metals.\r\nPractical Techniques: Mastering skills such as piercing, texturing, casting, twisted wire, or soldering.\r\nDesign & Production: Developing your own concepts, planning equipment needs, and crafting finished pieces of jewellery.\r\nReflection: Reviewing your completed work and learning how to overcome design challenges.\r\nEntry requirements\r\nThere are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, students should show interest in the subject matter and a willingness to learn.\r\n\r\nAssessment methods\r\nThis course is portfolio-based. Rather than sitting formal exams or tests, you will compile evidence of your progress and practical work throughout the course.
