Introducing Awen Tech.

A brand new, FREE short course led by industry professionals, which will equip you with the hands-on skills and knowledge needed to build a successful career working behind-the-scenes on live events, stage performances and location-based productions.

The creative, vocational skills-based training is available for anyone aged 16 and over, living in Blaenau Gwent. The evening course runs in short blocks – you can choose to sign up for one, more or all of the modules. No previous experience required.

 

Join Awen’s professional theatre technicians to learn the skills required for Q-Lab – powerful MacOS software for designing and playing back sound, video, light and show control cues. A flexible, reliable and user-friendly tool used across all professional theatres and events venues.

 

Work alongside our professional technicians to learn everything you need to know about lighting, from rigging and design, to programming and desk work. Perfect for anyone looking to work in theatre or event-based environments; you’ll even get to put your new skills to practice on professional shows! Sign up for these FREE short courses to access practical, vocational experience in all areas of live event management and set yourself on the road to a career as a technician, or perfect the skills needed to support community events and performances.

 

Our professional technicians will take you through everything you need to know about setting up and running high quality sound for live music and theatre events, including setting up a variety of different mics and speakers, understanding PA systems, using a sound desk for flow and mixing live sound.

 

Learn stage management skills as diverse as working with rigging and flying set ups, props, stage markings, costume and set design.

 

Enhance your technical theatre knowledge with special guest speakers on topics including sound for musicals, building virtual world LX, practical sessions on PAT testing and theatre electrics and a behind the scenes visit to a large professional working theatre.
